5 Practical Approaches to Relieve Work Stress

WHO (World Health Organization) defined  STRESS as a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation. Stress is a natural human response that prompts us to address challenges and threats in our lives. Everyone experiences stress to some degree.

What is Work Stress?

According to CDC, it defines work or job stress is the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. Job stress can lead to poor health and even injury.

We have shared 5 practical approaches to relieving work or job stress. These tips are not conclusive but will help improve your work-life balance.

Listen to music

Take a little pause and listen to calming music if you’re feeling overwhelmed by work stress. Playing calming music has a significantly positive influence on the brain and body, lowering blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol.

We recommend listening to nature or ocean sounds. It might seem clichéd, but it works.

Discuss it with a buddy.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed at work, take a break and phone a trustworthy buddy.  A healthy lifestyle requires good interactions with friends and loved ones. These are especially useful when you are under a lot of pressure at work. 

Even for a few moments, a reassuring voice may put everything into perspective.

Be mindful

Some interventions give instant relief, but numerous lifestyle adjustments might be more beneficial over time. Mindfulness helps in improving your emotional and mental well-being. 

Working mindfulness can aid in the improvement of overall work-life balance.

Enhance the quality of your sleep

All of us are aware that stress may induce insomnia. Regrettably, a lack of sleep is a major source of stress. This vicious cycle throws the brain and body out of balance and worsens over time. Be sure you obtain the seven to eight hours of sleep advised by the doctor.

Switch off the television early, put the devices away, dim the lights, and allow yourself time to unwind before going to bed.

Talk to a Counselor

Some job stress may be recurrent as a result of other associated psychological conditions, and you may need to consult with a counselor for assistance. Workplace stress can have a detrimental impact on job performance. Being open about your mental health issues can make a whole lot of difference!
